Get Your MEHKO Approved in San Benito County
Starting a Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operation (MEHKO) in San Benito County is now possible!
✅ San Benito County authorized MEHKOs in 2022 and began accepting applications in January 2023.
Steps to Apply:
- Obtain the MEHKO permit application from San Benito Environmental Health.
- Submit the completed application, SOP, and proof of Food Manager certification.
- Pay the required fees (hourly rate billed).
- Pass the initial inspection to receive your one-year permit.
Key Requirements:
- Annual permit fees and plan check fees are charged at $110/hour.
- Grant funding may cover or reduce permit fees—ask about current waivers.
- Operators must follow all AB 626/AB 377 rules for home kitchens.
