✅ Humboldt County is accepting MEHKO applications!
Steps to Apply:
- Contact Humboldt County Environmental Health to get the MEHKO application packet.
- Fill out the permit application form, write a simple food operation plan (how you prepare, cook, and serve), and submit a sample menu.
- Obtain a Food Manager Certification (required) and Food Handler Cards for any helpers.
- Schedule a home kitchen inspection after submitting your paperwork.
- Once approved, you can start legally selling meals from your home!
Key Requirements:
- Must operate from your primary residence.
- Maximum 30 meals/day and 90 meals/week.
- Annual sales must stay under $100,000.
